Job Description

JOB SUMMARY : The Laboratory Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting specimens from patients of all ages in the hospital. This role involves using the laboratory information system to document collection details, order tests, and assess medical necessity. The Phlebotomist may also transport specimens to testing areas and ensure proper labeling. Additionally, they provide clear collection instructions to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS :

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or GED preferred. Clinical knowledge of physiology and anatomy is a plus. Previous clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.

EDUCATION : Training in an accredited phlebotomy program preferred. College credits in medical technology, anatomy, or patient care courses are advantageous.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION : ASCP Phlebotomist certification preferred.
